<image:title>Plan a Visit - What is the Sunday Service like?</image:title>
<image:caption>Sunday Service typically lasts about 75 minutes. The service will begin with about 15 minutes of music led by a virtual or live band. The words of the songs will be shown on large TVs or found in hymnals provided. Many people will sing along and you can too. Participate as you feel comfortable. We use music as a way of expressing our love for God and appreciation for what He has done for us. Children are typically in the service with their parents and we’re totally okay with that :D There is both a “wiggle room” and a “quiet room” for parents to take their children to when needed. Children will find a bookshelf specifically for them along the back wall of the worship center (auditorium). They’re welcome to choose books or activities with their parent’s permission. There will likely be a few times that one of the leaders will pray during the service. You might be asked to sit or to stand up during those prayers. We’ll always make sure you know exactly what to do and we won’t leave you guessing. One of our pastors will teach a lesson from the Bible. Our goal is to help everyone understand the Bible and to apply it to their lives. The teaching will be practical and challenging, and hopefully will inspire you in your personal pursuit of God. On some occasions we may have a Children’s Message (a dedicated time for the children to sit with the pastor before the church to experience the message in a way they will understand) or baptisms during the service. Other times we celebrate communion (some refer to it as Lord’s Supper or Eucharist) together. At every service, we’ll have a host who will explain what’s happening during the service so that there are no surprises whatsoever. At the conclusion of our service each Sunday we take an offering of financial gifts. This offering is for those who call Anchor of Hope their “church home”. As our guest, you’re not expected to give any money. That decision is totally up to you. We have been blessed with many opportunities to serve the needs of our community, and through the generosity of our church members, we can meet those needs. You are welcome to participate as you feel you’re ready.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Plan a Visit - What if I don’t have my own Bible?</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the things that our church is known for is the Bible teaching from our pastors. Each has an exceptional gift of taking what may seem like complicated topics in the Bible and explaining them in ways that we can all understand. You can follow the link below to browse our sermon library and see for yourself. We want every person to feel comfortable and become confident in their ability to read and understand the Bible. If you don’t own a Bible, we’d love to give you one. There will be a Bible under the seat in front of you. You can also download a Bible app to your phone for easy access. That may be why others sitting around you have their phones out during the service. They’re not texting! Well, most of them aren’t.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In 2021, we partnered with Set Free Church to turn our church parsonage into a 10-bed sober living home for ladies. We got a boost from a North Carolina mission team during the summer as we performed an extreme home makeover on the house, and the ladies moved in that weekend. Through this partnership, there are numerous project-based and relational opportunities to volunteer to improve the lives and situations of ladies living on the Kenai Peninsula who are seeking victory over homelessness, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol abuse.</image:caption>

Love INC is a “Clearinghouse” for agencies and church ministries on the Kenai Peninsula. We are also a partner church with them to efficiently and effectively distribute food boxes to families and individuals in need. <image:title>About Us - An old tool shed.</image:title>
<image:caption>A group of teenagers from the Valley and the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Anchorage held a rally for the community on May 12, 1956. This event marked the opening of the Baptist Mission in Kenai. They raised money to help fund the $500 down payment on an old tool shed purchased from the Wildwood Army Post that was relocated to a site on the main street. A church grew and constituted in 1960 and reconstituted in 1965 as The First Baptist Church. For 65+ years, First Baptist Kenai has been an anchor of hope for the Peninsula. In 2021, the church began a refocus process to effectively reach our neighbors in Kenai, North Kenai, Nikiski, and Soldotna. A result of this church revitalization process, First Baptist Kenai changed it’s name to Anchor of Hope. We are remembering and reclaiming the excitement and expectation that marked our humble beginnings. If you do not have a church home and you desire to truly find and follow Jesus, you belong here. We cannot wait to meet you!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Groups - You belong here.</image:title>
<image:caption>Offering groups is an important way that we obey Jesus’ command to “make disciples”. Different groups exist for different purposes, meeting a variety of needs as people move forward into a personal relationship of finding and following Jesus, which is lifelong journey. We offer four distinct types of groups at Anchor of Hope: Connect groups: These groups focus on building relationships as opposed to studying the bible. Christians and Not-yet Christians form authentic relationships with one another based on common interests, including serving others. No curriculum is required. Growth groups: These groups focus on learning instead of relationship building. Participants increase in knowledge and wisdom through an in-depth study of a particular book of the Bible, a book written by a Christian author, or a video series. Life groups: These groups are the size of an extended family, they do life together, and are a tiny church within the larger church. These groups might pray together, eat together, sing together, serve together, and study together. Disciple-maker groups: These groups consist of 4-5 men with men or women with women who encourage one another, challenge one another, hold one another accountable, and apprentice together under the Lordship of Jesus to become like him based on their unique design, giftedness, and calling. It's like having spiritual running partners, or doing CrossFit for your soul.</image:caption>
